Privacy Policy

• We collect only what Describr needs to work: your account, the recordings you choose to upload, and the study materials made from them.
• We never sell your data, show you ads, or use your recordings to train AI models.
• Nobody at Describr listens to, reads or browses your recordings, transcripts or notes. The only exceptions are when you ask us for help or the law requires it.
• You can download everything or permanently delete your account at any time from your account page.

Describr is operated by Jhpenterprises ("we", "us"). Questions about this policy can be sent to jordan@jhpenterprises.net.

Account information: your email address and login details. If you sign in with Google or Lovable, we receive your email and basic profile from that provider. Passwords are stored by our authentication provider in hashed form; we can't see them.

Content you provide: lecture recordings or files you upload or record, course names and lecture titles, and everything generated from them — transcripts, notes, flashcards, quizzes, match games, study chat messages, study plans, quiz scores and flashcard progress.

Payment information: if you upgrade to Pro, payment is handled by Stripe. We receive your Stripe customer ID and subscription status. We never see or store your full card number.

Basic usage information: page visits and simple product events (for example, that an upload started) and technical logs such as error messages, used to keep the service running and fix problems. These don't include the contents of your recordings or notes.

• To turn your recordings into transcripts and study materials, and show them to you.
• To run your account, sign-in, and the Free and Pro plans.
• To process payments and manage your subscription.
• To keep Describr secure, prevent abuse, and fix bugs.
• To answer you when you contact support.

We don't use your content for advertising, and we don't sell or rent personal information to anyone.

Recordings are stored in private storage that only your signed-in account can reach. Each recording is linked to your account and protected by access rules, so other users can't see it.

To make your notes, the audio is sent to our transcription provider through a temporary private link, and the transcript is sent to our AI provider. They process it only to return results to you.

Describr staff don't access recordings, transcripts or notes as part of normal operation. We'd only do so if you ask us to help with a specific lecture, or if the law requires it.

We share data only with companies that help us run Describr, and only what each needs:

• Lovable Cloud — hosting, database, file storage and sign-in.
• AssemblyAI — converting lecture audio into text.
• Google (Gemini) and the Lovable AI Gateway — creating notes, flashcards, quizzes, study chat answers and study plans.
• Stripe — payments and subscriptions.
• Google and Lovable sign-in — only if you choose to sign in with them.

These providers process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments. We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect users' safety, or as part of a sale or merger of the business (in which case this policy would continue to apply).

If you connect an AI assistant to Describr, it can only read your own courses, lectures, notes, flashcards and study plans, and only after you approve it on a consent screen. It can't upload, delete, process recordings or make payments. You can stop using the connection at any time.

We keep your account and content for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your recordings, transcripts, notes, study plans and account are permanently removed, and any Pro subscription is cancelled. Limited payment records may be kept by Stripe and us where required for tax and accounting. Backups and logs are cleared on their normal cycle.

• Download your data: Account → Download your data gives you a file with your courses, lectures, transcripts, notes, flashcards, quizzes, chats and study plans.
• Delete your account: Account → Delete account permanently removes your account and content.
• Cancel Pro: Account → Subscription lets you cancel at any time. You keep Pro until the end of the period you paid for.
• Delete individual lectures from your dashboard whenever you like.

Depending on where you live (for example under GDPR or the CCPA/CPRA), you may also have rights to access, correct, restrict or object to processing of your data, and to complain to a data protection authority. Email jordan@jhpenterprises.net and we'll respond within 30 days. We don't sell or "share" personal information for cross-context advertising.

Lectures may include the voices of instructors and classmates. You're responsible for making sure you're allowed to record and upload them under your school's rules and local law.

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and stored with access controls that limit each account to its own data. No service can promise perfect security. If a breach affects your information, we'll notify you as the law requires.

Describr is meant for students aged 13 and over. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has signed up, contact us and we'll delete the account.

Describr and its providers may process data in the United States and other countries. By using Describr, you understand your information may be transferred there, with appropriate safeguards where required.

If we make meaningful changes, we'll update the date below and, where appropriate, let you know in the app or by email.
